The Joint Urban Studies Center, headquartered...
in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, mobilizes the resources of regional institutions of higher education to engage communities in planning that is informed by research, energized by broad participation, and validated by successful implementation. Wilkes University, as the managing partner in the Center, collaborates closely with , Keystone College, King's College, Luzerne County Community College, Misericordia University, Pennsylvania State University/Wilkes-Barre, and the University of Scranton. The JUSC Mission is... to assist in the revitalization of small to mid-sized cities through the utilization of the Center’s expertise and resources, including its member University and Colleges. Their respective faculty and students are used as resources to facilitate effective and efficient government, to disseminate best practices, to conduct applied research and strategy development. Based upon these efforts, the Center will develop a model for replication by other small and mid-size cities confronting similar challenges. |
